Thank goodness, now we'll be able to rest easier knowing that our northern buddies will be safer because of constant scrutiny, than ever before.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) is calling for the implementation of voice and video recorders on locomotives in Canada.  The call follows the release of the TSBs report on its safety study,Expanding the use of locomotive voice and video recorders in Canada. The study, which was launched by TSB in May 2015, looked at technology, legislative and regulatory issues, the potential safety benefits of installing recorders in locomotives, and the appropriate use of locomotive voice and video recorders (LVVR) information, among other subjects.

With the old age of the locomotives, this move is akin to putting a 1000 watt stereo into a 1982 Civic. If the TSB wants to improve safety, 2 things need to happen 1. Their findings and recommendations need to be addopted by Transport Canada and even more importantly.....2. Stop letting the railroads self reglate
