Of course, first off, my main connection to the world of racing:

Secondly, a opinion piece:

Oh c'mon *cy* ya know ya wanna, so just do it. Watch the BIG race on Sunday. It's your (new) home state's claim ta fame. Well...besides hurricanes, mosquitoes, huge snakes, flooding, mass shootings, white supremacists, and the awful weather!

Just open a cold one, or several, flip on the A/C and watch Danica go! Her last go round!

Why, didn't you read the second article? It's a boring, dying event without new blood.

The first race fan I ever knew was a big fan of Fireball Roberts and Fireball came to a bad end not so long after I made his acquaintance. I know that has nothing to do with this but I was just struck by the memory of the first race fan I ever knew.

Yes, did that. Not surprisingly though NASCAR fans are a shirking minority as regular 'loyalists' age out, and die off. Millenials have no interest in cars at all, since most don't drive. Anything relating to cars, and by extension racing cars just draws a huge blank.

So it goes. Hey maybe on line video games can be lotsa phun tu! Like dragons, castles and schitt! Armies and tanks battling it out over nothing! Kewl!

The next female driver to race at the Cup level in NASCAR may not be born yet
and I don't care. Danica Patrick probly one of the best of the current era which
pro-longed her career but no chance in "Victory Lane" kind of talent. I give her
thumbs up for what she did over the years drawing the female race audience to
the TV and the races. With her gone shouldnt change a thing in viewers unless
you watched to see when/if she crashed every week and what the reason was
"this time". You guys worry too much about NASCAR's future and its not something
to worry about.

You've already given up on those two ARCA babes? ("Snippy" speculates that blondie may have sported navel jewelry at one time.)

I agree that NASCAR's survival is not something to worry about. However, I think NASCAR should be worried. It may be better if they get the money out of it and go back to something closer to "Race it on Sunday", "Buy it on Monday" cars. Anyway, the big TeeVee money is there until 2022. It's certainly not being generated by ticket sales at the tracks. If they don't turn it around in 2018 or 2019 (and, with the loss of the big names, the odds are against NASCAR), the TeeVee money may relegate them to the second tier fake networks like roller derby and curling.

And, as much as I hate FOX and everything about them up to the Murdochs, they do outclass everybody else when it comes to broadcasting NASCAR Cup races.
