Do you ever wonder about the state of bridges, highway and rail, as I frequently do?  This is former CR/NYC territory:

If that's the 'chunk' that fell off, it didn't 'just fall' nope! Looks like it's been lying there for a while waitin' ta be discovered. Or re-discovered. I wonder about dirigibles falling, and grapes.

Wow, and it made news in Australia! That's much further farther away than Canadia.

Snippy's grasp of Buckeyeland geography is lacking. However, it should be noted that Sidney, Australia, is south of Moab.

Not really but Harden is in Australia. It wouldn't be Gonerail there, it would be Neverbeenrail.

Those are not Gonerail or NS safety Vests, They are Austrailian Vests.

Same as in Philadelphia, the falling concrete in Australia is simply a decorative nuisance. The chances of a chunk falling at the exact same time someone would pass under the bridge would rise exponentially with the passing of a train. Hint here....Don't go under the bridge when a train is going over it.

Seems that engineering practices at the time of constructing the bridge included a concrete veneer to save the structural steel from the effects of weather.

Now-a-days its common practice to forego a concrete veneer that seems to trap water inside the structure causing more rust.

Engineers sometimes frown on paint covering a bridge finding that a light coat of rust is only cosmetic and does not affect the strength of steel members.

Regardless of all you junior structural engineers who like to cry wolf and run around raising the alarm, We have your best interests well at hand. Please go about your own business and let us get on with ours.

Clavalin, what are you talking about? It's Hardin Wapakoneta Road. Maybe they're Shelby County vests. All this talk of Down Under is distracting from the one main point, the point being that a Gonerail structure is losing chunks. And misleading all the BurningJournaldotcom fans.

Round in the middle and high on the ends, that's where Sidney lives.

Memory problem.

The word i was trying to think of was cribbing--not ties.

It came to me about an hour later.  Guys older than Uke

know about senior moments [or days].

All I know is that Sidney has the last remaining Clancy's Hamburgers. They closed in my hometown about 25 years ago. So now if I'm craving a "Topper", this is where I have to go.

Back to shitty bridges....
