HHBob said the DPU's through Oregon Cascades dint work so well many months ago and finally the UP agrees. Oakridge is like 50 miles from Eugene
and thoughts were at one time they/UP couldn't attract enough engineers to relocate but apparently they found a way. With the recent UP layoffs/thinnings
it seems a return to "old fashion railroad ways" at least in Oregon. Manned helpers just like it was done forever and the SP surely has quite a history of "notes"
it took for the UP to incorporate. Next with the "thinnings" come the return to conventional switching ways with engineers and switchmen in Hinkle and Eugene
as its faster and more efficient. We already know that.
