How many wrecks did Danica have?

NASCAR racing for sure requires a set of balls as there is no other way to put it. I have yet to see a woman racer
with the courage and ability to make the moves/passes necessary to win races at this level. There is no room for
novelty. I think Danica Patrick had a "novelty" racing career. Enough driving ability to "tag along" which is something
to her credit. The next woman racer to try it will have the soul of a passed on racer that was really great in "his" day.
I look forward to it.

Yeah but... While Danica may not race again, she still has a lot to say. yep! And you can bet your...whatever that is she'll definitely opine. Dhe's been given a 'chair' as a reporter/analyst on motor sports in general, and NASCAR in particular, with the Indy 500 coming up in May this year! Wow! Go Dani!

Thanks for the warning Uke. Her other career now is her own cooking show and a guest on other cooking shows.
So if you like the aging Danica Patrick who doesn't look as hot she will be seen on cooking TV. I'm not sure about
in the booth for live TV races. Her insights on racing....I was involved in a lot of crashes that weren't my fault.

Those cooking shows "aged" Rachael Ray aplenty. I know she should have not problem floating in the water, shall we say.

("Snippy" knows not one thing about Rachael or her cooking shows, only the before and after photos. Oh, and the awful dog food I bought on deep, super sale one time.)

Yeah but Danica may have only won ONE race*, she was a notable presence on the track merely for trying! Ya can't just show up with a car, and join the fun. Takes a team, money, sponsors, and more. So she gave it her best for a while. And she may have parlayed her fame into another career. Good for her. She's still a babe IUHO. Bet Briz would do her.

*According to Cy

But lotsa wrecks. Yep!

"Snippy" still thinks her jaws could pop a man's head off.
Bet she could do the "fighter pilot" contractions better than fat girls.

I don't care about Danica, don't care about auto racing, don't care very much about sports in general, now agitating here at burningjournaldotcom, that's different.

How 'bout this clip Mr. The Krink? Daytona a bit of history the fastest lap speed ever. Some famous names made their mark attempting that speed, and a few died trying. Sadly so... Indy cars on the Daytona track? Yep. Here's proof. Late 1950s action.

Is NASCAR trying to save itself?

NASCAR announced the $2 billion purchase of International Speedway Corp. on Wednesday, an aggressive move to gain control of key racetracks and set itself up for sweeping changes that could save America's most popular racing series.
The deal is expected to close by the end of the year.
International Speedway Corp. owns 12 tracks that host NASCAR races, including Daytona International Speedway, Homestead-Miami Speedway, Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway and Darlington (S.C.) Raceway. Its holdings stretch from New York to California , and it is one of two major facilities companies that host NASCAR races, along with Speedway Motorsports Inc.
Gaining control of a dozen tracks - along with Iowa Speedway, which it already owns - would seemingly make it easier for NASCAR to alter its racing schedule, including the possibility of fewer events.
NASCAR president Steve Phelps has made it clear that the 38-race schedule in the top-tier Cup series, generally considered too taxing for teams and fans, is among the areas the sanctioning body is looking to change. Seven of the International Speedway Corp. tracks host two Cup series races each season.
NASCAR's five-year agreement with tracks ends after the 2020 season.
'We are pleased with the progress that the negotiation and execution of the merger agreement between NASCAR and (International Speedway Corp.) represents,' NASCAR said in a statement. 'While important regulatory and shareholder approval processes remain, we look forward to the successful final resolution of this matter and continuing our work to grow this sport and deliver great racing experiences for our fans everywhere.' The agreement is the latest makeover for NASCAR as it scrambles to win new fans and end a decline in attendance and TV ratings. And more deals could be on the horizon.
'I would certainly be worried if I was any of the tracks that aren't part of the deal,' said Victor Mathewson, a sports economics professor at Holy Cross. 'My guess is NASCAR will put an emphasis on the tracks it owns rather than the ones it doesn't. Given the decline over the past couple years, I wouldn't be surprised if they cut some venues from the schedule, and some of those tracks could be on the outside looking in.'
