NS derailment at Horseshoe Curve July 26th...de ja vu all over again

So another derailment at Horseshoe Curve just weeks after the last one. Same empty centerbeam flatcars on the point of a 222 car train

going up 1.8% grade and same result as they "stringlined". Lesser amount of cars derailed but same disruption to service on one of the busiest

3 mainline tracks in America. Lots of expert commentary on TO for this latest derailment.

When at first you don't succeed:

try, try again.

Remember Tin Cup the movie with Kevin Costner?

"12?", "Why that's Immortal"

Virtual Railfan...we bring trains to you. 222 car train mostly empties with no DPU/helpers. MIR factor in both derailments and train make-up.

Norfolk Southern I hate to say is famous for doing the same dumb thing over and over again.....of course expecting a different result. And the reason this WILL happen again is because they will blame it on train handling and not train make up. I know they do these things because the learned from the best....CSX!

Cant blame it on train handling because in both derailments the power is in fight to stay above 10mph rounding the curve
with all the locomotives at max.

You know that, I know that...and we both know that stringlining is most likely at low speed and high power. But NS cannot be bothered to fix the real problem so always always always blame the crew.

Kinda hard to blame it on train handling when he was sitting there in #8 for the last 30mins. Hopefully there's no obscure bulletin about empty flats on the head end. Or the chief gave the ok. From what I've seen around here they kinda take the trailing tonnage, and curve rules seriously.

I've also never seen empty bulk head flats included in tonnage restrictions.

I'm surprised every expert in the comments blames the center beam cars and not the 220 cars with no pushers cars behind them.

Trailing tonnage seriously? Ha, things must've changed, they'd send a TM out to watch us around our restricted curve at the home terminal, time and time again.
