As a native Ohioan, I find this as disgusting as, well, as disgusting as I find idiots everywhere:

Future doctors got an unexpected taste of the ugliness sometimes encountered by members of their chosen profession Tuesday at the Statehouse during consideration of a bill that essentially would outlaw vaccine requirements in Ohio.

"People screamed at us that we were liars and that we were fascists," one of the eight first- or second-year medical students from Ohio State texted a Columbus doctor advising them.

Hundreds of vaccine mandate opponents demonstrated outside the Statehouse and gathered in the atrium, where a House Health Committee hearing on House Bill 248 was shown on large screens. House leaders are now "pausing" the hearings "while we work with the (committee) chairman, the bills sponsor, and all interested parties on this important issue."

In an account provided to The Dispatch, the students, garbed in white coats like those traditionally worn by full-fledged medical doctors, said they talked for about 10 minutes with a bill supporter who identified himself as a critical care doctor for 25 years at a Columbus hospital. He called the students "brainwashed" and said they were "disgraces to white coats.

"Fear, shock and frustration were only a few of the overwhelming emotions we felt," said the students, members of Ohio State's Medical Student-Physician Action Network. Those in the group, all but one of whom is from Ohio, said they did not respond to the ongoing taunts and jeers "due to fears that the encounters could escalate towards a physical altercation."
