Looks like a bad day for someone:

A multiple train derailment tied up traffic and emergency services Friday morning near Linden but caused no injuries, according to local law enforcement.

The Warren County Department of Fire & Rescue Services responded to the derailment at 8:57 a.m. in the 4000 block of John Marshall Highway east of Front Royal, a public notice posted to its Facebook page states.

The department asked the community to stay clear of the area while emergency responders assessed cleanup plans.

There is currently no threat or danger to the community, the post notes.

As of Friday evening, there was no determination of a cause, said Fire Chief Richard E. Mabie.

Linden is the ruling westbound grade on the B-line. Its a right stiff knot. It looks like it happened at the spring switch. Its a unique double track/passing track setup. I always wondered why it wasnt used in a lot more situations. Dark territory. Each mainline has straight rail at one end. At the other end, they go through a high speed turnout with a spring switch Leading back to single track. I dont think that area ever got Traffic control. Westbound train would have been straight rail. I represented an engineer in a rear-end collision right there. Oops.

And another LAMCO crew has a bad trip:

HUNT, N.Y. (WROC) A train went off the tracks near Letchworth State Park Wednesday morning.

A Norfolk Southern train derailed about four miles east of the park in Hunt, New York.

I heard it come off the track. Got up, got to the door, all we could see was sparks, Trevor Blanchard, who was visiting his father in the area said. So I am yelling at my wife and kids get up, get out! Run, run, we were running up the yard and got half way and we saw it crashing through the trees.

Hope they were loaded. {{checks video}} Yep, looks like at least one loaded with Ford pickups. This is a great way to sell trucks with 41,000,000 unemployed (or, is it 43,000,000?).

Drainorders report on the train in New York State:

From one of my contacts - #310 had 182 loads, 30 empties, 22,850 tons, 13,527 feet. This train hauls a lot of sand for gas fracking wells in northern Pennsylvania.

There were reports of some heart problems that seemed to have been cured by the jobs report yesterday.
