Effective January 1, 2021, LAMCO will no longer match retiree donations.

Kind of sums it up, doesn't it.  They say it's to bring themselves in line with other railroads, etc.

Yes, we've done this several times.

It's because of "Snippy". He gave tu much money away.

PS: They won't match American Diabetes Association* or SPCA or volunteer fire department donations. Snippy tried.

* For years LAMCO('s bike team) was the premier sponsor and rider team of the local charity bike ride for ADA. LAMCO never matched a penny of the donations. Their involvement was in-house PR and photography and NSTeeVee schitt. While John RathBonus'** was Finance VP, he provided LAMCO bike Jerseys for the team.

** John Rathbone was the VP-Finance who signed off on creating the BLET bonus in ~1996.

found this:

Employee Matching Gifts Program

  • BNSF Railway Foundation has established an Employee Matching Gifts Program designed to encourage employees to give financial aid to qualified educational and nonprofit service organizations. The Foundation matches 1:1 every dollar contributed, as long as the contribution falls within the guidelines of the program. Employees should refer to the employee intranet to download the contribution form. The Matching Gift Program must be initiated by a BNSF employee and not by an organization that wishes to be included in the program. Matching Gift payments generally take place within three to four months of the Foundation having received the Matching Gift form.

So, the retiree should take his donation and give it to a fellow

rail who will get the matching donation, thereby paying the

beneficiary as if the retiree was still getting a match.

How does "the retiree" take it off "Snippy's" taxes?

Snippy surely has many close friends still working who would compensate Snippy with the savings they gained by helping their good friend, Snippy, out.

Cy, on the other hand. . .:cy:
