Major in 40+ cars in a location where there are no real detours. BNSF pretty quick usually in getting ex-ATSF transcon open for business.

OH those delayed Z-trains. Atleast a valid excuse.

Catching a lead unit with the old "flat" style DIE-MATIC Brake was a mutha-fcker. (Faster you

were going, the more retardation was developed) (Good Luck with a 60 mph trailer train going

the speed and setting the Diematic Brake up, When ya crack the handle the load meter buryies

itself into the red zone.) Thank Goodness they invented "Taper" dynamics.

GE desktop control stands had a cheap wand that looked for all the world as a monster size volume

potentiometer from a Radio Shack Realistic 10 band short wave radio, rather than a precise control

of an impressive amount of counter electromotive force. These things are notorius to be moved

from minimum to maximum positions with hardly a care in the world, or doing nothing until the

handle is close to the maximum and then coming on with maximum force.

Ahhh, such memories. Well, that dried out the old whistle, better get a fresh cold Miller Lite.
