Word on VR got out that a derailment happened on Roanoke Cam and I watched for a while as the NS team was assessing the snatchiation.

Luckily a 90 second video pretty much sums it up.

Could have been worse. Isn't that the same spot as other derailments

Yes. It's leaving from the ML or Park St. Forwarding Yard. It's coming off a "right stiff knot" as they used to say in the good ol' days. It was holy hell leaving out of there on short heavy trains like we used to get from them going to Southren. Even worse. if ou have a couple miles of crap like double stackers behind racks, their favorite way to derail them.

That's the place the Test Department claimed 425 Amps of DieMatic brake improperly applied through a turnout caused a big pile-up a few years ago and they dismissed the engineer.

25 amps over (if Cy remembers correctly) and LAMCO fired that poor guy? Phukkers! Cy was fortunate to not get caught.

I have to say I also had a charmed RR career.. including 1 or 2 times where it was ridiculous that we weren't caught.

Judging by the yellow containers in the middle of the train, this is a reroute and wasn't even supposed to be in Roanoke.

Someone asked why'd we get our train back, I said idk but looking at the comp there's still one running circles around the poke somewhere.

Someone in the comments said, the clip is like watching paint dry...... I concur.
