UP derailment , Santa Fe Jct, K C Mo

After dinner Wednesday evening I start looking at YouTube and notice VR Santa Fe Jct with 1.3K watching. Must be something going on.

They are cleaning up 3 remaining derailed from the 6. This leg of the Santa Fe Jct wye is UP from the north going east out of KC and

I've watched enough trains do "10mph" or less with flange squeal and bore you to death. Thats why VR does the "2X or 3X" on trains

of interest going via this leg. When I first saw this video I was looking for the "2X" in the bottom LH corner and no this is real speed

which had to be 15mph+. Think the hoghead applied a little "brake" at the most perfect wrong time. Those "Fucking Empty Centerbeam's"

seem to be the cause of a lot of derailments sometimes due to poor train placement. Put them on the rear of the train and you got DPU's

or manned helper pushing hard against them. Another MIR derailment with empty centerbeam flatcars.

I wish there was follow up as to what caused these.

That bridge was strong as shyt. All our overpasses have wider concrete bases.

I believe I saw the slack run in about 20 secs earlier than when the car started to derail....

Quite a show of what type E couplers on the Racks can do for ya, as compared

to what happens with Type F Shelf couplers on the tank cars.

Sure does seem to pick up speed after the air went down. Was there a Helper/DPU?

Slamming on the dynamo?  I would say T.O with the dyno on the head and the DPU shoving hard, but I'm not sure UP even has T.O.  I had a UP GE the other day and it didn't have it.

It has been determined that no DPU on this train. I'm still trying to figure out what caused the "BANG"
about 20 seconds before cars started derailing.

I've been there once. 12 hours from Argentine (KC Kansas) to Murray (KC Missouri).

I got to hang out for a day at Santa Fe Jct in April 1984. Took lots of pictures. MKT and MoPac and CNW still around
back then. BN and Santa Fe and KCS and NW/SOU. KCT and UP and Amtrak. KC 2nd behind Chicago for busiest
USA railtown. Other than that KC sucks.

They have TO but it's a different type....I cant think of the name of it...

Notice how compressed the centerbeam and the plastic hopper are right before they go over on their sides? I know centerbeam flats have some drawbar in them but that looks like lips to ass.
