UP south of Big Sandy. I've watched trains past the Big Sandy diamond (ex-SSW ex-Mopac) and they are all giants taking about 10 minutes to pass.

This is a "double train" with the mid-train DPU's the lead power for the 2nd train. Pretty common practice on UP. I've been noticing more derailments

from the DPU's maybe "not responding" to head end for some reason....immediately. Break in communication. Cant have that with so many trains

using DPU's to make trains longer today. Cause for concern.

They don't lose communication often, and when they do they just keep doing what they were doing unless you make a 10lb reduction then that is supposed to shut them off. I've never had to do that.

There's alot of reasons a 13,000ft dpu train could derail.

I noticed that it takes about 8 seconds for them to respond when a distance away....
