It's a tax scheme. LAMCO got a big audit on it. Nothing happened. One of those funny stories of how a dumbass trainman at an investigation can really start some schitt.
Let's just say the guy destroyed a 'million dollar' car that had no apparent damage, except it needed a ladder and high handbrake stand. LAMCO writes it off as a big loss. General Foreman shows up to testify at the investigation showing on paper (as in, Exhibit #3 ) how they derived an Actual Cash Value (ACV) number under a different name on the Mechanical side's book at $6300 -- maximum amount they can spend to repair. Numbers weren't nearly that dramatic, except for the $6300. LAMCO employee rats them out to IRS.

Bent frames automatically get a car put on the scrap line...it doesn't have to be by much either....they will measure it from asshole to izzard and if it ain't square it gets cut up.
