Guessing to keep it from kinking? I don't know really.
Possibly not.....cooling a length of it just give the hot parts a place to run to....just as normally when rail runs it will buckle at place where it can go no further such as a bridge with real a real good hold on the rail...just where that rail approaches the bridge....sproing!
