Yes. Major derailment 30+ cars and as what luck could be had in in a major derailment "no haz mat". Just a big mess.

NS has a string of bad luck with derailments lately like one a day. Time will reveal how this Alabama derailment happened.

NS Derailment Anniston Alabama???

NTSB figured out how the NS Alabama derailment happened.

NTSB: Alabama derailed train lacked needed couplers

Wabash Central, ancient power, what operates a remnant of the Cloverleaf, a very decrepit piece of railroad.

I wouldn't have any idea what they would look like. Anyone working today I would reckon would recognize it or be even aware of the rule.

They were going to run some shitty steel mill engines to another mill, and the BOT said you could see that the couplers on one of the engines wouldn't be allowed to go, but he's a super history/rail buff.

CSXT 1120 - 1128; SW1001; Ex Conrail

1. Shoving or Backing up with Non-Alignment Control

Locomotives

When any locomotive in the consist or within twenty cars of the

consist is not equipped with alignment control devices, do not

permit more than one locomotive to be on-line. If the locomotive

on-line is an AC locomotive, do not use more than 100,000 pounds

tractive effort while making the movement.

Maximum Dynamic Brake Axle Value

Do not exceed the maximum dynamic brake axle value for

the locomotive consist. Those maximum values are:

24when all units have alignment control couplers.

20when any unit has coupler limiting blocks.

Do not use dynamic braking when any locomotive in the

locomotive consist does not have alignment control

couplers or coupler limiting blocks.

NOTE: All CSXT locomotives have alignment control couplers except

those indicated with a (B) under Dynamic Brake Type in the

Railway Investigation Report R02C0050 - Transportation Safety Board of Canada (tsb.gc.ca)

This is a investigation of a similar wreck in Canada. With the copyright rules used you have tu

search for a pic that is free. There are several sources but they are copywrited. Every day now

I get that screen that says you must credit the owner/get permission.

This canadian report is free range and it covers many pics, etc all in one place.

It still can happen and the RR has existing rules tu burn yer ass, so look out.

i seem to recall a member here who was finding out about a train backing off into

a yard on a wye and had an old switch engine in the consist. The train jacknifed at the engine.

Jog and memories?

I hadn't thought about those drawbars in years and years but I suspect those locomotives were picked up and dragged up to the Fort before they were sent back, starting their journey to the south. I wonder who'll get the blame?  They were some bedraggled looking power the last time I ever saw them, onetime IC power, I think, I'd hate to think what kind of condition they would be in by now.

Loco on the left is setting on the Cloverleaf main on the west side. Back before it got shortened, we used to shove out there, did it all the time. Barely visible on the right is the caboose that was brought in to be their yard office but it never was, they brought in a shoddy utility trailer.

I'd use it if I was told to, but I'd be wary!
