A trainee was killed the other day down in Seagirt Marine Terminal.   He was 28 years old, and has a baby due anyway now.   He was riding the end of a trailer train with his instructor on one side, him on the other.  He had four months on the railroad.   Evidently they were riding Captain Morgan style on a car that had two handrails.  He was.controlling the move.  They have the incident on tape, and more will be revealed.

I told the RR this would happen....

We aren't allowed to ride cars on a ramp. Not saying they were, did they hit something at a crossing?

Condolances for everyone involved. Those flatcars with the 2 handrails are not

what I would ride. I'd walk em no matter how they bitched.

That sucks extra bad for the family and newborn. LAMCO outlawed riding on the high/low verticals after years of interpreting that the low, loopy, hoop-ish thing was really vertical.

Was there an engineer on the crew?

I believe that is the set up Calvin. There was an Engineer on the job. By controlling the move, he was giving the car counts. NTSB is investigating...

My worst fear is hurting someone on a shove move. I just set 10lbs and shove hard, I'd rather be called a Grandma than the guy that threw someone off a car.
