That looks expensive. It looks like it's at the top of a concrete pier over land....maybe. That Drain Odors picture is tiny. There used to be a special Yard Pusher Engineer rate in all the rate tables to push trains out of the yard up Erlanger Hill into Ludlow.

Too bad the lynx didn't show what I was trying tu....

I went across that bridge a whole bunch of times, not to mention all the times I pulled out on it and doubled back into the yard. If you were setting out there while another train passed, it had a little shake to it. I haven't any idea when it was built but I suppose I could look it up.

Snippy, Ludlow is just across the river, they shoved up Erlanger Hill to Erlanger. Ludlow was where the diesel pit and diesel shop was. The Green Team had all kinds of people working there when we first started but they all disappeared over time.

Put the switch back in at Vera and OPEN THE PEAVINE!

I wish I could remember the name of the engineer whose train was left 'dynamic' bunched on that bridge by the inbound crew. It's a right stout hill. The rear of the train was out of his seniority district on the other side of the bridge near a control point. He wasn't qualified there; I don't think he'd ever been there. The rear rolled back 13 inches or two feet, some ridiculously small amount, over an insulated joint RAN A STOP SIGNAL!!! Mixmaster Mark Manion-scum insisted on firing him. Manion-scum said all engineers had to know where the rear of their train was. I think the guy was a Bronze Star Afghanistan or Iraq veteran. I told the VP of Labor Hatred that there was talk of a walkout. He said the "S" word", but I wouldn't. I just told him that every train leaving from that location would have to have someone observe the rear before they touched the brakes or knocked off any hand brakes.

Pipes probably remembers that one.

I remember that one, I guess that Pipes will be able to tell us who that was. I was still working when that happened and everyone was asking where the rear end of their train might be and should they have the BOT go see. It rolled back off the south side of the bridge because the bridge is humped, a big help when, as we used to do, get on a train at Ludlow and bring it across. I always admired those Silk Stocking District guys who dealt with that hill every trip coming down into TQCOTW and how well they handled it.

I imagine the great search engine might work well enough to find that thread.

Well, lookee here: https://burningjournal.activeboard.com/t27734688/roll-back-stop-signal-violation/

As for the bridge, looks like it might be back in service for at least one main.  I bet trains were tied down all over Cy's old district yesterday.

I remember, the engineer and conductor are still happily employed.

I hate all those bridges, the three trestles coming down the hill are worst.  Not even worth the days pay going over there.
