This must be where the Juice train goes on the other end, Pipes.

Trouble Down in Georgia. CSX 1032 hit local train L743 heading on in Folkston, GA. MOW was working on the turnout, M442 and M209 were told to stop and confirm switch positions, dispatcher was then informed that 1032's switches were lined and locked for their movement and that obviously wasn't the case. A misaligned switch sent the 1032 down the wrong sub and straight into the local head on. 1032 was reportedly going roughly 35-40 mph at the time of impact. New reports are saying the crew of 743 were okay just a little banged up but the 1032 crew were taken en the hospital in serious condition.

Scary video, even though you don't see the impact, you know what's happening.

Head-on'r during MIR. Miscommunication cause of the wreck.

CSX head-on collision at Folkston, GA

Since we don't know what the conditions were, can't speculate but I would have thought that if the signals were suspended, they possibly could have come down and see that the route was lined favorably for their movement.

Wtf is a Signal Suspension, and why does CSX keep doing them?

There is a video out there from an ex-CSX employee and talks about "Signal Suspension" and there is
usually/always a person to throw switches at the junction since the dispatcher cant. These "switchtenders"
called off the Conductors X-board and all they have to do is sit in their car until the dispatcher instructs
to throw a switch. Seems the switchtender got it wrong or was instructed wrong. MIR a bad time to turn
signaled territory into "dark territory". Just saying.

Conductors are supposed to do flag jobs too...but MOW says that's not in their agreement...irrelevant I say.

Its a sign of the times when the track number is painted on the track

at every road crossing.

There was a Bellevue crew that had permission to hand line a power switch where single went into double, and pass the stop. BOT lined it the wrong way and the HAWG didn't catch it and they entered the wrong main, numbered 1 and 2. Whoops. I don't know about now but they weren't numbered then.

I've been gone so long that I don't remember which was which.

They hardly ever send the BOTs down to hand throw a switch, especially now.

Really?  Who lines the switch if you come to a switch that won't lock up or the circuit is down or whatever?  That's almost beyond my grasp of understanding.

The maintainer. Except on CSX, when I was a bot most of the switches I threw were on CSX. The one time at Winton Place there two CSX maintainers on the other man doing something else. Matter of fact at LM cabin when I had to throw 4 different switches there was a maintainer in the signal box.

Just last trip she told a train they were going to have to hold at the CP cause the switch wouldn't line. Maybe it's not a rule, but they never seem to want the bot going out there and doing it, we also don't have hot shot pig trains to delay on our side.

They aren't running that train out of Rickenbacker to Cincy and beyond anymore?

They did away with the Columbus/Cincy to Florida train a couple years ago.  Now it's just a block that goes on one the Chicago trains.  Our once hot shot train is now a block that dies in Sharonville, and gets next day transferred to Cincy.  It was explained to us as "FedEx is not the same as UPS".
