CSX To Re-Install, Improve Hump at Cumberland
Permalink

May 28th, 2024 by WCBC Radio

WCBC has learned that CSX is making an investment of between $32 and $40 million dollars to re-install and upgrade the "hump" faciility in the Cumberland train yard. The Hump was removed in 2017 under than CSX Chief Hunter Harrison who wanted to use the concept of precision railroading in building trains. That has cost CSX across the country millions of dollars and several other yards are also abandoning the idea. Sources tell WCBC that plans are to remove the existing hump terminal and install new switching capabilities allowing more cars to be trafficked through the yard. Senator Mike McKay has heard the rumors but not received anything official yet.

Cindy supposedly ordered that when closed cumberland yard was supposed to be able to returned

to service quickly and cheeply. When they closed they simply covered all the tracks not

needed with ballast rock.

Get a suck truck in there and suck up the excess ballast and get er Dun!

What they need is $40,000,000 in 'participation' by the state to help this great industrial partner bring these much needed jobs back to Maryland!

They could call LAMCO for pointers. Just reference the Heartland Corridor, Pritchard Intermodal facility, Greenville, PA, Bristow to Claverton double track removal and re-installation by Vagina, etc., etc.

I think LAMCO's hump is back at Moorman Yard, located in the land of loving picnic tables, but I don't know for sure.

I'm like Freddie, I never understood WTF they were thinking and hope they're throwing a few more coals on Hunter's personal spot in hell.
