Jim Nabors for me will be singing "Back Home in Indiana" before the Indy 500 for
a long time. Him singing that song just added so much to the whole spectacle and
started the goose bumps/chicken skin before the race starts. Its such a beautiful song.

Imagine my surprise, I didn't know this fellow was still alive:

John B. Anderson, an Illinois Republican who cultivated a freethinking reputation during his 20 years in the U.S. House of Representatives, and who mounted a serious third-party bid for the White House in 1980, died Dec. 3 at a retirement home in Washington. He was 95.

After entering Congress in 1961, Mr. Anderson spent many years in lockstep with Republican Party orthodoxy and was a supporter of ultraconservative Sen. Barry Goldwaters presidential bid in 1964.

Now that jogs the memory banks! Yep, John Anderson... The guy had balls, ya gotta say that for him. Running as an 'independent' at a time when the very idea had some very negative connotations. Think Ralph Nader...only more realistic than pie in the sky!

(More prooph that *cy* IS old!)

Weird timing, Mary Tyler Moore was just yakking about her early TV roles, especially as Dick Van Dyke's wife, Mary Richards. She was talking about her wearing 'pants' on screen, etc.

Uke stands corrected. Mary Tyler Moore's role as Dick Van Dyke's wife was Laura Petrie. Her character was notable for wearing 'capri' pants, much to the studio's discomfort. But she won out despite complaints.

Her dancers legs looked good, whatever she chose to wear!

I just read "Y is for Yesterday". I've read them all. Son of a gun.

How about a link that works: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/29/obituaries/sue-grafton-dies-best-selling-mystery-author.html

Statement from her daughter paraphrased: Now, the alphabet ends at "Y".
