Good Samaritan Saves 5 From Sinking Boat

BARNEGAT LIGHT, N.J. (AP) Coast Guard officials say a Good Samaritan rescued five people on a life raft after their boat sank east of Barnegat Light.

The crew of the Made to Sea were fishing yesterday on the western edge of the Hudson Canyon when the boat began taking on water and its pump stopped working.

The crew members were able to board their life raft and were picked up by the crew of the Fat Cat about 30 minutes later.

A Coast Guard officer noted that while the Made to Sea crew was not able to activate their Electronic Position Indicating Radio Beacon before they left the boat, they took a hand-held radio and life jackets which allow the rescue go smoothly.

Once the rescue was completed, they got an ops failure for not using proper radio procedures...

I'd say the bitch sank.

Anybody else think I may be wrong?

I'm presuming they did their stretching exercises and job briefing prior to forgetting to activate their EPIRB.
