We had a guy that decided to see how fast he could get his train going through the town of Oakridge OR. He had her up to 96 mph by the time he got to the tunnel on the other side of town. Event recorders take the fun out of railroading!

The old Wabash engineers I knew used to speak fondly about the days when they commonly ran freight trains as fast as they could get them to go without anybody ever saying a word except that they made good time. I never heard the NKP boys talk about speed like the Wabash guys did.

Another thing guys would do was get there train up to around 60 70 mph and stop it on a dime at the KFalls depot. My buddies dad found out that guys were doing this and tryed to do it himself. Anyway he didnt know how these other guys were doing it and ended up 4000 feet from the door. Good thing those AC12 Cabforwards didnt have downloads.
