Well, the hypocritical CN has struck again. Our pay is hourly and based on a 10 hour day. A while ago the bean counters decided that they couldn't stand the thought of paying somebody for 10 hours and only having them work 8, so the word was put forth that everyone should be held for 10 hours. Find something for them to do, ruber room, whatever. And then the economy went south, so they decided that overtime should be eliminated if possible.
On the DWP side, the trainmasters, in an effort to comply with the ivory tower's wishes, were sending the crews home and then quick tying them up in the computer.
Well, it seems that a number geek looked and noticed that it was unusual to see so many guys marking off in 10 hours even and raised hell. A brief look revealed that the crews were leaving early and tying up later. Investigation notices were mailed out because this is a sin against nature. The LC went to the general manager, who was named as the charging officer, and asked "What the fuck?" The general manager said "What the fuck?" back, as he didn't know anything about the investigations. They were all cancelled.
Then the GM did some looking and determined that the Division Supt. is the one who generated the investigations in his name. He is demoted to asst. supt. and is sentenced the freshly acquired EJ&E in Chicago. The Asst. Supt. in Superior is getting demoted to trainmaster and sentenced somewhere else, and 3 of the 4 trainmasters got shit canned.
Supposedly it's not going to stop there, I think that Stevens Point is going to be under the microscope for similar practices.
