Front end of the engine got ripped off when they hit a truck.
Unit is now painted in HORSEY colors. Just had a close-up, personal experience with it. Miserable, rough riding, ex-Con POS. And desktop controls, to boot.
Couple years back...maybe like three years, or so... One of ours lost the ass-end windsheet, coupler, pocket, and the entire draftgear. I think it was the 2703... Made a lovely repair job.
Contractors rebuilt everything from the rear frame ends out! Musta cost the railroad a bundle!

Hmm. That address doesnt look right. It looks like the link pointing here was faulty.
About 10 years ago, the DWP made a high speed (10+ mph) joint with one of our SD45's. Shoved the draft gear into #1 TM, took out the plow, breastplate, steps and M.U. lines. I ended up dragging that bitch to Stevens Point with another SD45 that wouldn't load after it made transition. 19 mph max. And those boneheads called us unsafe...

Looks like a miracle...I mean, the handrails aren't even bent, The Ditchlights arent broken out, Hell, I can't see any scuffed paint? What did the truck look like?
Don't know, it sat on our pit for a couple of weeks six months or so ago before they moved it out, looking very much like the pics above. Then it was gone until the other day, when I had it in the lead and it had the lovely smell of new paint.
