Lead unit on a Seattle bound grainer [corn] that smacked an auto-carrier tractor-trailer.

And acquired a new 'hood ornament' for GE...
At least temporarily. She was sitting in 11 stall awaiting the boilermaker's torch as we clocked out.

Upper left corner of the nose shows a distinct wheel impression from the Toyota [?] that came ta rest after the meet!

Oh yeah...mntman will probably post a few more of the left-rear side of 5005 where the trailer came ta rest as impact settled.

The whip-saw motion swung the trailer 'round along side the unit, and tore up handrails, etc.

Amazingly enough, no injuries, and no majot damage to the 5005.

The automobiles? Scrap metal, glass and plastic. From what I've heard a few Cadillacs were on the carrier. Oooops...

Most of the damage...although mostly 'cosmetic,' and not all that serious, the shop vultures began pilfering essential mechanical pieces ta keep other GEs running...

With BNsf laying up power systemwide, they won't miss the 5005 for a few more weeks...or months!

Nah. Didn't venture inside the cab, or onto her yet. Figure this time it's all boilermaker/pipefitter/cab-carpenter work. With a few dabs of paint in places.

If there's any machinst work at all, it'll be wheel truing only. Heard the hogger plugged her at 40-MPH...and slid the entire train half-a-mile.

You know damn well there's wheel work there! But it'll wait for everyone else ta finish up.

Well we got her sister out tonite after dayshift put new mounts on for the front main resivour tank..  Welder does some nice work..  Only thing is that they filled the tank after emptying the fuel with water..  Was draining when we got there and finally finished about 9 o'clock.. That was 6 hours too drain what say 5000 gallons..  Only took about fifteen minutes too fuel it..  Air was good and it loaded so another maker for the team.....
