With the city still in abuzz over their 2008 World Championship title, the Phillies are packing up to head south for spring training.
Workers began packing a 53-foot truck destined for Clearwater, Florida with equipment Friday.
"It's a fresh start. Coming off a season like last season, it was remarkable and we're here to do it again," said equipment manager Dan O'Rourke.
Stacked floor to ceiling in the van is everything the Phillies will need, including 15 cases of gum, 300 helmets, 600 pairs of pants, 1,200 backs and 15,000 baseballs.
Many of the items will be autographed and sold for charity during FanFest at Bright House Field in Florida on February 20.
Pitchers and catchers begin their first spring training workout next week.
