...EMD to slash Illinois work force

Electro-Motive Diesel Inc. plans to eliminate 347 jobs at its McCook, Ill., plant as early as April, according to a layoff notice filed with the state of Illinois. EMD said reduced demand for its product line, due to the recession, prompted the move.

How stupid is it that EMD can't take SD40 hulks and make them into lean mean green efficient pulling machines? Instead, they decided that since GE-unk was selling crap like hotcakes, they could sell crap. Alas, we get ThunderCabs®

I enjoyed a trip home today on two of their finest products, 2600's. Gee, they sure were nice. I especially enjoyed listening to the bell ring. Someone else must not have liked the bell so much because when I first got on them, it wouldn't ring. Closer inspection revealed that someone had disconnected the power to the bell. Much as I thought they had the right idea, I still hooked it back up.
