Sure hope they weren't going over 40mph and were ringing the bell continuously.... Thats a screwed up place, those college kids are supposed ta be smart....
NEWARK, Del (CBS 3) A group of Delaware college students are being hailed as heroes after saving a woman who became stuck on railroad tracks.
On Wednesday evening, a car driven by an elderly Delaware woman became lodged on railroad tracks near the intersection of West Main Street and New London Road in Newark. A speeding train was only moments away.
Miraculously, four passers-by noticed the car stuck on the rails and moved to assist just as the train crossing signals activated, signaling a train was coming.
The passing car was filled with University of Delaware students who tried to free the car from the tracks before the train crossing arms began to lower.
June Griffith, 60, who lives in Newark, was rescued from her vehicle and rushed a safe distance away before the on-coming train barreled down the tracks and into her 1999 white Pontiac Grand Am.
The car was pushed approximately 100 feet before being thrown from the tracks behind the Deer Park Tavern.
No one was injured in the incident and the train was halted near the North College Avenue crossing for three hours while the crash was investigated.
They can't call her "FUCKING RETARDED" in the paper so they called her elderly.
I hit a stolen full size black GMC dually that somebody parked on the main about 100 yards from a crossing a while back. It was picth black and raining, I was doing 60 mph. That was fun!
