Domino's employees face charges

Search Video:

NEWTON, N.C. -- Two Conover Domino's employees are facing criminal charges after posting video on YouTube that showed them doing disgusting things to customers' food.

Kristy Lynn Hammonds, 31, and Michael Anthony Setzer, 32, turned themselves in to Catawba County authorities late Wednesday afternoon. They are charged with contaminating food. If convicted, they could spend four months to one year behind bars.

Hammonds and Setzer are being held in jail on $7,500 bond each. Their first court appearance is scheduled for Friday.

Hammonds, who also goes by the name Kristy Lynn Thompson, has a rap sheet that includes charges for communicating threats and making harassing phone calls. Those charges were ultimately dismissed. But Catawba County authorities did confirm that Hammonds is a registered sex offender from Alexander County.

NewsChannel 36 asked Domino's Pizza about their hiring policies. Corporate officials said "local franchise owners are responsible for hiring." The local owner would not comment.

Meanwhile, Catawba County Public Health inspected the restaurant twice. It was closed on Tuesday for sanitization.

Inspectors said all food products that were previously opened and not in original packing have been thrown away, and all utensils have been sanitized.

"According to the recommendations, which have been followed and we have overseen the sanitation process, the facility is ready to be reopened," said Kellie Coffey with the health department.

A Domino's Pizza spokesman said that Thompson wrote an e-mail, claiming that the videos were a prank and said the food was never sent to customers.

Catawba County authorities said the videos provided overwhelming evidence, which ultimately led to the criminal charges.

The videos posted on YouTube show the two employees tampering with customers' food. In one video, Setzer is seen putting cheese into his nose and then onto a sandwich.
