It sure ain't happenin' out this end! We've got more 'stored' power than ever. Not -2s either. Sure a few still hang around, but we're talkin' SD-60s, and SD-75Ms...
Whole sidings filled, end ta end with 60s, and 75s tied up on stub tracks and unused dead-enders. The 75s are all sf power, since BN never owned any of 'em. A few in 'recent' BNsf paint jobs.
We've been moving grain through...but nothing like last year, or the volumes we saw two years ago. There are two break-bulk ships lying at anchor on Elliot Bay right now. Maybe grain moves are scheduled soon. But Interbay is all Geeps now. Workin' big power ain't happenin' right now...
And the yard outside my joint is pretty quiet lately. Not much across the hump...and no overtime anywhere in the terminal!

I made four hours overtime today, that's just because I rescued a train at Wilmington. But it is thin, real thin here in Philly. If railroads are suppose to be the leading indicator that the economy is recovering, we are fucked. The holidays, all jobs will be off two days.

Talked with one of the youngsters last night, and he told me they had FIVE units O/S at Interbay. Damn! That's it? Nothin' comin' in...and very little movin' out there.
From what I gather BNsf is layin' up the less fuel-efficient power [SD-60s, 75s, etc.] while continuing ta fill past orders for Evos, and 70ACes. Past contracts they can't break.
Not sure where they expect ta store more dead horses here... Just about all our little yard tracks are stuffed. Our movers have one less track ta use as a runner for movement, since we 'gave up' track #1 adjacent ta the main. Commuter outfit 'Sounder' wants straighter track ta up their speed from ruling 40 ta 50. Right past our maint. bldg. That's a shove northbound!
Anyway... The beat goes on! Long as my paycheck is deposited every 15th and 30th they can do what they like.
