NORTH PHILADELPHIA - May 31, 2009 (WPVI) -- Police are investigating an overnight homicide in north Philadelphia that claimed of the grandson of fame boxer Joe Frazier.
Gunfire rung out in a tavern on the 400 block of Hewson Street shortly before 3:00 a.m.
Peter Lyde Jr was working security in a tavern when authorities say a patron and a bartender got into an argument.
Moments later, the patron opened fire.
Peter Lyde Jr was shot once in the chest and rushed to Temple University Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Lyde is the son of Peter Lyde Sr. who is married to Judge Jacqui Frazier-Lyde. Jacqui is the daughter of boxing legend Joe Frazier.
"We're devastated with a senseless murder of someone who we love and there's no explanation," Lyde Sr. told Action News in an exclusive interview.
