So now they've taken it a few steps further eh? Firing the engineer for NOT tieing down the unit, and leaving the unit for 'boss o' train' ta ensure that the handbrake was applied, and diesel shut down?

Chickenshit charge! And suppose the engineer dropped dead enroute? Ain't the 'second in command,' the conductor, qualified ta handle the throttle/brakes, etc., and bring the train to a safe stop?

Same thing with tieing down; Conductor SHOULD be qualified to do so. And like I've always said, shut 'em down before ya walk away! Every member of the crew oughta know how ta do that!
