CSX train catches fire near Versailles
DARKE COUNTY, Ohio -- First responders report no injuries as the second engine of a 46 car eastbound CSX freight train catches on fire Monday (Aug. 10) night, Web site www.whiotv.com reported.

The train came to a halt near the Younker Road crossing three miles west of Versailles around 8:30 p.m.

The Darke County Hazmat Team was activated on the report of diesel fuel spill. CSX also reported at least three hazmat tank cars up near the engine, but that the tankers were empty as far as the railroad knew.

There were no homes evacuated.

No one on board the engine was injured. The Ohio EPA was called to the scene.

Officials removed the charred train engine on Tuesday morning.

(The preceding report appeared on the Web site www.whiotv.com on August 11, 2009.)

Snippy loses. Unless the poster is wrong. This from a Yahoo group:

GP40-2 6474 appears to be the one that caught on fire judging from the charred
and blistered paint on the hood doors to the rear of the prime mover and
governor area. The news video showed what appeared to be a couple of GE's and a
GP38-2 in front of the unit. Does anyone know where this mother and its slug
were taken to?
