Ya'all gotta remember if you have a steep hard pull up, you have a free fall down, the other way.
Lotta heavy coal starts out on top of the mountain and comes down as loads. then you have relatively light emptys going back up hill. 

In the East, freight starts out goes up the Allegheny ridge, then comes back down the other side.
As they get more and more Locomotives that store the energy gained by coming downhill with dynamic brakes, look for the fuel mileage figure to improve.

They are doing 1 Engine a day in Cumberland. Don't know about Huntington.
Shop feller was tellin me the Wabco guys that are overseeing and OK'ing the work were impressed with the CSX employees. They did in 3 hours what the NS guys in Juniata took 3 days to do.

I have run out of gas several times running down to KFalls, and Im not the only one to do so. You can look in the mirror coming out one of the long tunnels like 3 or 7 and those 5000's look more like Malleys than GEVOs.
