Well this usually happens every few years around here. The CN started their raiding of BN low seniority people the other day. One guy for sure went to the interview, and not sure if he got the job.
They promised him he will be engineer in one year! WOW! Maybe BD can comment but, I thought on the CN, once you become engineer, you CAN'T be a switchman/conductor anymore. You have to maintain your engine rights, where ever that may be?
Well, I am not totally sure how to answer that. I am protected and hold no rights as a conductor. I think the unprotected engineers who took the promotion from conductor may flow back to conductor if there are no engineer openings on the system. I am speaking here about the WC side of the railroad, I am not sure what the DWP contract states, and the DM&IR boys have been on an expired contract for several years. It appears that LINTCO is looking for warm bodies on the former DM&IR territory due to attrition. I think this is going to be a fiasco in the very near future.
LINTCO has served notice that they are going to have the DWP and WC guys running on trackage rights into the DM&IR's yard in Proctor, and that DM&IR crews are going to be running on the DWP tu International Falls. Eventually the Twin Ports is going to be 1 terminal with crews from the former properties inter-mingling. I think that seniority is going tu be a major headache.
