Jury sides with CSX in crash that killed 4
CLANTON, Ala. -- An Alabama jury has sided with a railroad in a series of lawsuits filed by the relatives of four men killed in a train crash almost three years ago, the Associated Press reports.

Chilton County jurors ruled in favor of CSX Transportation on Friday, deciding the Jacksonville, Fla.-based company wasn't liable for the deadly crash.

Four construction workers were killed when the van they were riding in collided with a train near Thorsby on Feb. 8, 2007. Four more men were injured.

Relatives claimed CSX failed to maintain the crossing, and that warning signs were missing or broken. But jurors sided with CSX, which said the van pulled out in front of the oncoming freight train.

Relatives of the victims were seeking an unspecified amount of money in the lawsuits.
