Poor guy, dead, sure it wasn't the first time he made this move, being on the close clearance side. Ruining the holiday for his surviving family forever. It's a sad thing and Cy hates it.

Cy remembers when he was a young brakeman and got caught by a TM riding a close clearance side. Verbal reprimand, end of it, TM was right, Cy didn't do it again. Actually, kinder, gentler time (meaning today Cy would have been yanked from service instead of verbal warning). Perhaps if someone had once said to this man, don't do that, we wouldn't be discussing him now.

Not making excuses, however, there are plenty of places we go where you have to precision spot the car to the doorway(about a foot clearance either way...cant see from other side), because of the size or the ramp that folds down into the door opening of the car, to allow forklift access. Many places require each car to be spotted, then uncoupling and pulling ahead a couple feet to spot the next door. do this for 7 doors, and you could see where one of those Jonny get er dun guys would elect to stand in the wrong place instead of crossing thru the cars (up the ladder and across the end platform) (not up the cut lever and across the coupler).
