I recall the PPE craze in the early 90's. Us bridgetenders
could wear anything we wanted as far as footwear. I
usually had a pair of Nike Air's on. Thought they would
be easier to swim with. Then in one fell swoop...we all
had to wear steel tipped boots, safety glasses, and hard
hats. The steel tipped boots weren't that comfy working
a desk job but there was plenty of tripping and stubbing
articles on the bridge that I noticed with the Nike's that
I didn't notice with the boots. Plus the RR basically bought
the boots for you minus 10-15 dollars. My BN hardhat
is in the rafters of my garage now. I still like to shine a
flashlight up towards it as I decorated it with "glow in the
dark" stars and other interesting things. Nobody ever said
anything about it and I wore it until the last day.

I've seen a fellow at a local pile and dredge outfit who got ahold of reflective letters, and put "Don't hit me" on the back of his vest

I learned back in 1976 that I have no luck growing pot.
(with the authorities) Glad there is always some that do
get away with it.

We got that same bullshit going on here tu. They wanted our input, and we told them to shove it up their ass. There is no need for them. They are a constant hazard, and we don't want them.

I hope it didn't fall on deaf ears...

You guys will luv those vests. They are great for picking up chicks. The local loveleys see those vests and say ""Oooh, he's a railroader, I gotta get me a piece of that. He's got a job."

Plus when you step in front of a speeding locomotive, the unit will just bounce right off of you.

I am surprised that the hairy-mann horse people with the backwards locomotives don't have to wear them yet.
