Head-on train crash near Alberta causes large blaze

(The following story by Shawn Logan appeared on the Calgary Sun website on March 4, 2010.)

CALGARY, Alberta Two trains slammed head-on just outside of Golden, B.C., Wednesday, sparking a large propane fire.

Canadian Pacific Railway spokesman Kevin Hrysak said the crash between an empty grain carrier and a train carrying potash occurred just after 3 p.m., knocking one engine on its side and striking a propane tank at a rail switch heater, which spread into a 30-metre radius blaze.

He said emergency crews quickly doused the fire before it ignited leaking diesel fuel and no dangerous substances escaped from either train.

CPR was still investigating and cleaning up Wednesday night, forcing the closure of one of its main lines, and Hrysak couldnt say how soon it will be re-opened.

No news of injuries..? One must speculate on what's NOT being said. Damn... Uke holds a bunch of shares of CP Rail, which has been doing quite well... And pays dividends on the shares every quarter!

Yeah? So I bet you get the Foreign Tax Credit then, so just like the Warren Buffet types, you are subsidizing a foreign country like a Republican would by avoiding paying the tax here in the states.
