SAGINAW, Texas -- A collision between a Union Pacific freight train and a military tank truck in Saginaw sparked a fire that damaged a locomotive, The Houston Chronicle reported.
UP spokeswoman Raquel Espinoza-Williams says the crew safely exited the train Monday night. She says the engineer was transported to a hospital, as a precaution.
The accident happened around 8 p.m. Monday on tracks parallel to U.S. 287. Firefighters put out the blaze within two hours.
Espinoza-Williams did not immediately return a message Tuesday from The Associated Press to provide further details.
Saginaw is about 10 miles northwest of Fort Worth.
