CHICAGO -- The Chicago Transit Authority says it's ready to begin testing rail car prototypes on the city's Blue Line, according to the Associated Press.
Ten prototype rail cars will make their first Blue Line appearance on Monday. The CTA says the goal is to see how well the cars perform in real-time conditions.
The prototypes have new features, including networked security cameras, an event recorder system and door sensors. They also have aisle-facing seating to accommodate more customers.
The cars already have been tested on the Red Line and Green Line. The CTA says the cars must be tested on all eight of its rail lines before officials will approve delivery of nearly 400 more cars.
