ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. - The Bridger Coal mine in southwestern Wyoming is expanding its operations to approximately another 2,000 acres, the Associated Press reports.
The expansion was approved last week by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. The expansion includes new lease holdings on private land bordering the mine 35 miles northeast of Rock Springs.
The mine, which provides coal to the adjacent Jim Bridger Power Plant, is already the largest in Sweetwater County. The plant provides electricity to customers of Salt Lake City-based PacifiCorp and Idaho Power in Wyoming and five other Western states.

Yesterday we witnessed no fewer than THREE coal trains bound for Canada [Roberts Bank] in eight hours, two intermodal [stacks], two Amtrak trains, two Sounder trains [commuters], and a Cascades train.
Inbounds were heavier than usual as well. Grain, auto-racks, return stackers...garbage, and empty coal hoppers!
The Northwest Division of BNsf is busy! Again. And the training goes on. Interbay has been recalling furloughed apprentices, and attempting ta hire more.
All good news for us!

Boy Uke I remember when I was working there and was bizzy that I didn't even hardly notice what went by on the highline.. Hopefully you'll keep gazin for us and let some of the younger folks do the heavy work...
Funny thing about the railroads... Thry'll do anything NOT ta consult the experienced heads, and allow 'em ta have a voice in the decision making process.
When it comes ta lining up work, setting prioroties, and work assignments... Management at all levels have their heads up their asses.
And when things get outa hand...they run around like a buncha headless chickens!
Ultimately, that's what they are, headless, mindless chickens...afraid ta make a decision, 'cause it might be wrong!
I say when in doubt, ask the guys who do the hard work!
