Low water trips on a SD70 MAC.  Some water still in the sightglass, I've seen them run a lot lower.  Anyway, how do you reset it once it trips?  I saw no way to do it, computer or otherwise and the forces that be in all-knowing center we have didn't know, either.  Oh, it was a TFM unit.  If that matters.  POS, anyway.

Snippy hopes you had some axles cut out, or something.
His friend in Emerald City says this is the cause of stringlines this year.

IIRC, on LINTCO SD75's, which are about the same vintage, behind the next set of doors past the start station, the doors that you open up to get eyeball to eyeball with the sight glass, there is a little panel with I believe 6 green LED's and toggle reset switch. Being that it is EMD, they won't be readily visible or facing the door, rather they are facing the front of the locomotive on a large gray cabinet type box. If my ailing memory serves me correctly, it's at that panel where you would reset for low water, plus several other ailments.

Uke, being the resident wrench, do you have anything tu add?

Bout the only thing that works is to stop at the first available water hose and fill the bitch up. Its not a SD-40, a fusee will not work.
Computers are smarter than that.

pretty muh what Cal said. That 'gray' cabinet is where the cooling fan contactors and relays are. You don't need ta go inside that... Nope! Your resets for LWSD is on a 'box' type thingie, with LED lights, and a toggle switch. Ya reset the water shutdown there.

And IF it is indeed low...the water level, it shouldn't shut down. It should stay running, albeit at IDLE, with NO load. Try ta restart after resetting everything, let it idle, then put it back on line, and run it as power.

The SD-75 is a DC traction version of the SD-70, and damn near everything on 'em is the same, although they were built later.
