Yep, what Snippy said. My mom passed in July 1980, but she made a huge impression on me. And left a big hole in my soul. I think about her every day. And every day I wanna call her to hear her voice. Although my phone won't reach her.

I would never wish a nursing home on anybody, much less anybodies Mom.

Those tear jerker commercials showing cats and dogs being mistreated is what i think of when someone says nursing home.

It takes real courage to get old and have some kind of life. You can bet shes dancing around like a young person now....

My mother left us last summer, she didn't know us and hadn't for a good while. She was in a memory care facility, there really wasn't any other way for us to do it. Her not knowing us and watching her decline made it much easier on us because we all felt like we'd lost her well before that. Still, I get what you're saying, Clavalin.

Sorry to hear of your loss Krink. No matter how long ones life is,the passing is never easy.
St. Joes in Bellingham is certainly a state of the art Hospital nowadays. And have provided great health care to me and my family since before Chink was born.
Wish you many good memories..

Seems to fit here, frontspiece in a book I recently read:

G. M. Trevelyan > Quotes > Quotable Quote
The poetry of history lies in the quasi-miraculous fact that once, on this earth, once, on this familiar spot of ground, walked other men and women, as actual as we are today, thinking their own thoughts, swayed by their own passions, but now all gone, one generation vanishing into another, gone as utterly as we ourselves shall shortly be gone, like ghosts at cockcrow.

I like that one. Sad, but true. Numbers gettin' stroked off the seniority list like crazy, now.

Some retirements. Some the other way.

Hawking was so much more than being one of this generation's greatest theoretical minds, etc.

He was atheist. And had no fear of death. http://time.com/5199149/stephen-hawking-death-god-atheist/

In fact he laughed at the prospect of death. After all, he lived at least fifty years longer than doctors say he should!

Another famous 'doctor' of sorts bows out just before reaching that BIG milestone. Remember T. Berry Brazelton? Yeah, well ya should cause chances are pretty damn good (if you're old enough) your mom probably read some of his, uh..theories. But none of that matters now. My own ma can't be reached via 'Ma Bell,' now.

Cloth diapers. Leave babies cry out. They'll stop. Eventually.
