Anybody else remember the TV show "The Mod Squad," about three hip, young, cool, anti-establishment crime fighters? Yeah so the lead actress Peggy Lipton died yesterday at 72.

I remember "Columbo", and "Dallas", were OK.

Jim Rockford and Simon & Simon were dam good.

The A-Team had everything you could have wanted in a military shoot em up, yet no one got kilt.

Herman Wouk, author of "The Caine Mutiny", "The Winds of War", and several others, he was 103:

Herman Wouk, the Pulitzer Prizewinning author of the Navy drama The Caine Mutiny whose sweeping novels about World War II, the Holocaust and the creation of Israel made him one of the most popular writers of his generation and helped revitalize the genre of historical fiction, died May 17 at his home in Palm Springs, Calif. He was 103.

Wouk (his last name is pronounced 'Woke') penned a dozen novels, a handful of plays and several nonfiction books over the course of his nearly 60-year career. A meticulous researcher, he specialized in stories of personal conflict set against the backdrop of compelling historical events, including The Caine Mutiny (1951), The Winds of War (1971) and War and Remembrance (1978). The latter two became an ABC miniseries in the 1980s starring Robert Mitchum that averaged tens of millions of viewers over the course of its broadcast and became the highest-rated miniseries after Alex Haley's Roots.

Leah Chase famed 'creole' chef and civil rights activist passes at 96. Her story, and the friends she made through the years read like a 'who's who' dictionary of politicians, artists, musicians, and other notables. A huge loss for New Oreans.

Heard an interview with Billy Gibbons once, he gave this guy all kinds of credit for showing him a path into music:

I have a Roky Erickson greatest hits CD or is it "The Best of". Too lazy to go upstairs and find out what CD it is exactly.
Bought a lot of music from great magazine reviews during the day. Maybe played the CD twice...Roky Erickson for special
occasions when somebody asks "do I have anything by Roky Erickson" and I can say yes.
