That saddens Uke if it be true. Just when EMD has begun its climb back from obscurity, and barely holding the number two spot in North American freight locomotives.

Everyne of us remembers a time before GM sold EMD off, along with Allison Power Products, and a few other minor divisions, all who relied upon the largess of GM's deep pocket subsidies.

Now on its own so to speak...this is bad news indeed. Parallels of ALCO come to mind. A recall may be in order.

Caterpillar would need to foot the bill to get the work done HERE, in the good ol' USA! Not in Canada, orr Mexico!

Just because CSX made no mention of the Thundercabs with this issue does not mean that CSX may consider restricting their use as leaders for safety sake. I spoke to an employee who is somewhat in the know about these units mentioned that he would not be surprised if CSX did just that.

Do you always reveal your "sources" of such news items???

Uke still has heard nothing, not one word to that effect. Perhaps BNsf is makind adjustments in power consists, but we've yet to see the evidence.
