Hadda true a set of three on an 70ACe last night. Number 1 had thin flanges both sides. Weird. On 'sterring' trucks yet!

Popped of the end caps of all three in the front truck, and cleaned up #1. Six cuts ta reach a decent profile, but lost a lot of life on that wheel.

So, ta match the others at FRA 'legal' the other two hadda get the works!

Five cuts each. From 29 ta 24... Damn big wheels, with A/C motors. Matching 'em is critical, but not as critical as the older MACs. They hadda be within 1/4" each, in the same truck.

The ACes are more forgiving, with all the electronics/computer controlled wheel slip and current controls ta the motors. But that damn thing kept me busy for five hours. Caps, cutting, respotting, resetting, cutting, respotting, and finally pulling it off the machine ta install the end caps.

Finished 'er up at about 2215. Tired. Hadda call for help getting the "IN" cable/hook off though. No reliable place ta hook up to. The only real pain in the ass of the job.

Clalvli this isn't like you at all. Would a brand new ALCO C-636 make you happy? Or perhaps a shiny new GE Dash 8-40W? Maybe a refurbished SD 40-2?

Gonna hafta ask for a ride up ta Roberts Bank one of these 'weekends' ta see those monsters in action, pullinga coal train.
Permission from a TM here oughta do the trick... Probly hafta sign a waiver, in case I get hurt, or dead, or something. Ya never know. Liability laws and all...

They're using anything, and everything ta pull coal these days. MACs, ACes, EVOs, and the ol' standby Dash-9s. Every now and then a unit drops inta Interbay for maintenance or repairs. Then we never see it again!
