Rick Perry was greeted in South Carolina by a woman who said she was happy to see the anti-gay candidate, POLITICO.com reported.

According to the report, the woman greeted Perry at a restaurant in Anderson, South Carolina.

While posing for a photo with the Texas governor, she said it was good to see someone as homophobic and racist as you.

Perry reportedly smiled and moved on.

Perry jumped into the race with high hopes of winning over socially conservative voters, who play a prominent role in early caucus state Iowa. However, he placed a disappointing fifth in Iowa.

After his weak showing, Perry prompted speculation that he was considering dropping out of the race when he told supporters he was heading home to determine whether there is a path forward for his bid.

Over the weekend, Perry reiterated during a New Hampshire debate his support for a constitutional amendment that would define marriage as a heterosexual union.

In a 30-second ad, titled Strong, released last month in Iowa, Perry says there is something wrong with America when gay troops can serve openly in the military but children cannot openly celebrate Christmas. The ad has been lampooned by Stephen Colbert and GOP presidential rival Fred Karger. Parodies of the ad have overtaken the Internet.

Perry is expected to finish last in Tuesday's New Hampshire presidential primary.
