No one knows who the person is yet, but someone in or near Rhode Island woke up this morning as a multimillionaire.
One winning ticket in Saturday night's mega-Powerball jackpot was sold at an undisclosed location in Rhode Island, according to lottery officials, who said the ticket is worth a whopping $336.4 million.
That's even higher than the $325 million that was projected prior to the selection of the six lucky balls: 01, 10, 37, 52 and 57, plus the Powerball number &mdash 11.
So far, the identity of the winner has not been revealed, and neither has the store where the winning ticket was sold, lottery officials said.
Even if you didn't match all six numbers, don't throw out your tickets yet. Powerball officials say more than 2 million lottery tickets including 147,262 tickets sold in New Jersey won smaller prizes with a combined total of more than $13.3 million in Saturday's drawing.
Saturday night's multi-state Powerball jackpot was the largest top prize in Powerball history and the third largest lottery prize up for grabs in New Jersey. The Garden State has had higher payouts for its other multi-state lottery, the Mega Millions.
Powerball is played in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, along with 40 other states, the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands.
